David Stay, Ph.D.

R&D Chemistry Manager
Dr. David Stay joined 1,4GROUP in the summer of 2025 as Research and Development Chemistry Manager. He pursued first an AAS in Chemistry from Ricks College (now BYU-Idaho). Idaho State University in Pocatello granted him both a BS and MS in Chemistry in 2004 with Dr. Joshua Pak. It was at ISU where he met and married his wife, Marcelle. Together, they moved to Eugene, Oregon, where David earned a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Oregon in 2012 with Dr. Mark Lonergan. After finishing graduate school, a new job with an agrochemical research and development group took them to Los Angeles, California. After a few years in L.A., David decided he wanted more industrial/plant experience, moving to Mobile, Alabama, where he worked as the plant chemist at an agrochemical production facility. After nearly a decade there, David moved to the Regulatory Department. While working remotely as a Regulatory Manager, David and his family moved to Meridian.
Marcelle is a college professor; she teaches communication classes online through ISU and consults on technical writing projects. Together, David and Marcelle have three children. David enjoys collecting hobbies, which have included balloon animals, swing dancing, bookbinding, epee fencing, flute making, and metal casting. As a family, they enjoy travel, books, trivia, science nerdery, and cooking and eating good food together.
