John Forsythe

General Manager


John began his working career in 1965 under his father, Darol, the founder and previous owner of Industrial Ventilation (IVI).  John’s job responsibilities ranged from sweeping floors to servicing ventilation and refrigeration equipment.  In 1979, John left to spend several years overseas as a pilot with Mission Aviation Fellowship. 

In 1984, John returned to Idaho and IVI as a salesman for ventilation and refrigeration equipment for potato and onion storages.  John’s territory spanned from New Mexico to Colorado to Minnesota.  During this time, John was involved in developing CIPC application technologies for potato sprout inhibition.

 In the coming years, John handed off part of his sales territory in order to assume the responsibility of Sales Manager.  Several years after becoming Sales Manager, John assumed the responsibility of President of the company.  In 1993, John sold his interest in IVI and left to pursue new opportunities in sprout control.  John currently holds the position of General Manager of 1,4GROUP and is a co-owner of the company. 

John holds several FAA ratings, including: Mechanic (airframe and power plant), and Pilot (commercial, instrument, flight instructor, and instrument instructor).  He also has an AA in Aerospace Technologies from Portland Community College.

John has been married to his wife, Sue, for 36 years.  They have two children, Mike and Jennifer, and three grandchildren.  In his spare time, John enjoys flying and spending time with his family.


Jeanette Von Krosigk

Regulatory Manager


Although Jeanette is not a native of Idaho, she has lived here for most of her adult life.  After graduating from the University of Illinois, she moved first to northern Idaho and then to Boise.  She has worked in accounting related positions since graduation.

Over nine years ago, she started working at 1,4GROUP, Inc. in the accounting department.  Her main responsibilities included Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Logistics.   State regulatory projects were added to her responsibilities five years ago.  As the company has grown, Jeanette has left the accounting department and is now doing regulatory and international logistics full time.

When she is not in the office, Jeanette can be found backpacking or hiking in the Idaho mountains, desert, or along the Greenbelt in town.


Michael Bates

Operations Manager


Michael Bates joined 1,4GROUP, Inc. in December of 2009.  He is the Operations Manager and is responsible for overseeing the warehouse, company safety program, real estate, aircraft, and DiChlor Laboratory. 

Michael is a native Idahoan who was raised on family farms.  He is a graduate of Boise State University and has a distinguished military career, retiring as a senior officer/commander.  He spent 26 years in aircraft maintenance/management and then another two years in senior management at the Idaho Air National Guard.  He also worked as a building construction project manager for three years before coming to 1,4GROUP.  “At 1,4GROUP, I have the best of both worlds, my love for aviation and strong roots in agriculture.” 

Michael has been married to his wife, Quinn, for 37 years.  They have two grown “boys,” Phil and Conner.  Michael is licensed private pilot and will pursue his instrument ticket in 2013.  He loves flying with pilot son, Phil, and family in his spare time.  He also enjoys family time on their boat, “The General,” during the summer. 


Brian Ware

Finance Manager


Brian is the Controller of 1,4GROUP, Inc. and oversees the company's global finance and tax structure, banking relations, manages the company’s international and domestic cash, as well as foreign exchange, GAAP reporting requirements, information systems, and human resources.  Brian joined 1,4GROUP, Inc. in October 2004.

With over 22 years of experience in accounting, Brian brings a broad range of experience in financial reporting, retail accounting, construction accounting, real estate accounting, accounting software implementation, cash management, inventory flow, corporate and individual tax, and benefit plan administration.  

Brian has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Boise State University, a Master’s of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Phoenix, and he is currently working towards his CPA.


Addie Waxman

Research & Development


Addie Waxman is a Senior Scientist at 1,4GROUP. She conducts research and experiments on the impact of various storage chemicals upon potatoes. Her work takes her from the potato fields to potato storage facilities to processing plants. Ms. Waxman was an environmental science instructor at the University of Phoenix and earned the “Best Instructor Award” in 2008. Prior to that position, she was a food scientist at J. R. Simplot Company where she worked on developing the MicroMagic line, Simplot’s fruit and vegetable blends, and worked with McDonald’s French fry and hash brown production.

Ms. Waxman earned a B.S. in biology, minor in chemistry, and an emphasis in microbiology and a M.S. in food science at Virginia Tech. Her thesis and published work was entitled “The Inhibition of Pseudomonas through the use of Genetically Modified Lactic Acid Bacteria”. Ms. Waxman is now a student at the University of Idaho pursuing her PhD in Plant Sciences. Her dissertation title is “The Impact of Harvest Timing upon End-Product Quality of French Fries”.

Currently, Addie serves on the planning committee of the Bio-Pesticide Industry Alliance and is also a member of the Board of Directors at Ahavath Beth Israel, is chairperson of the security committee, and once served as Vice President. Ms. Waxman earned the Idaho Business Review “Woman of the Year” award in 2009 for her extensive volunteer efforts in the Treasure Valley.


Brian Winn

Western U.S. Technical Representative

Brian grew up in the heart of the southern Idaho agricultural community in Twin Falls. Upon graduation from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1999, Brian went to work in the wholesale nursery industry for 14 years. Nearly half of that time was spent in production side of the business honing his technical skills. Brian’s depth in customer relations and sales management as a Sales Manager is a great benefit to 1,4GROUP. Brian supports the Western U. S. market, concentrating on Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, and Colorado.

Brian has been married to his wife, Amanda, for ten years and together they have two wonderful kids: Timothy and Elaina. Never a dull moment in the house as he says! Golfing, gardening, landscaping, and camping are a few activities that he enjoys with his family.


John Bergman

Eastern U.S. Technical Representative


John supports the Midwest and Eastern U.S. markets to provide technical and marketing expertise for the region.  He has a degree in Agronomy with emphasis in crop protection from North Dakota State University.  For the past 30 years, John has directed sales, product development and field research on a number of crops and seed products.  In these capacities, he worked one-on-one with growers and processors in the agricultural industry to provide maximum revenue generation for the products they produce.  John is originally from a sugar beet & small grains farm near Oslo, MN and currently resides in Fargo, ND.


Mike Frelleson

Sales & Marketing


Mike has worked in the food/potato industry for over 40 years.  He was V.P. of sales and marketing for Ore-Ida Foods and Weight Watcher foods for over 15 years.  He has held management positions in B&D Foods, Northwest Food Service, and was president of White Cloud Coffee.  Mike has been involved in sales and marketing for 1,4GROUP for over 10 years, helping build the brand and developing relationships throughout the potato industry.

Bill Orr

Canadian Technical Representative


Bill supports the Canadian market from coast to coast to provide technical support, marketing expertise, and training of certified applicators for the 1,4GROUP product line. He has worked in the Canadian sprout inhibitor industry for the past 14 years in three of the Western provinces. He enjoys working one-on-one with growers and producers to ensure that the best possible long-term quality of potato is delivered to the end user. Bill firmly believes that sprout inhibitors and dormancy management products are just a tool in the grower’s tool box that help maintain long term potato quality. It takes quality management during the whole storage season to achieve long-term potato quality. Bill currently resides in Edmonton, Alberta.

Paulo Reyes

Mexico General Manager


Paulo started working at 1,4GROUP in 2009 as the Operations Manager for Dataplex in El Salvador.  Paulo graduated from Western Catholic University in El Salvador with a degree in Industrial Engineering.   Before joining 1,4GROUP, Paulo gained valuable experience in Production Systems by working for Fruit of the Loom for eight years.

Paulo has been married to his wife Natalia for 10 years and enjoys spending time with his two little girls, Abril and Paula Maria.  He also enjoys listening to music, reading, playing squash, and likes to stay informed about new gadgets and technology.

Crawford Smith

Global Sales Manager


Crawford joined DormFresh, Ltd. as the Global Sales Manager in October 2012.  Crawford is Scottish and grew up in the heart of the chemical Industry in Grangemouth, Scotland where he started his career as a trainee engineer working with companies like ICI and Zeneca in the early 1980’s.

With over thirty years experience in the Agro-Chemical Industry, Crawford brings a broad knowledge base from engineering and production management, sales, market development, and business development. He has worked primarily across Europe, but also has experience in Japan, China, and of course the USA. Over the past five years, Crawford has been closely involved in the manufacture and marketing of products used globally in the potato industry.

Suzette Clarke

Office Manager


Suzette was born in Derbyshire, England and spent most of her childhood growing up on her parent’s hill farm in Yorkshire.  At age 16, she moved to Scotland with her family to farm in the Scottish Borders.  Thereafter, Suzette never looked back and made Scotland her home where she is now married to Neil from Aberdeen and has two daughters, Yasmine and Naomi.

Suzette started her career in the world of hospitality and has worked in Switzerland, Chicago, and Nantucket, progressing through hotel groups including Hilton until she met her husband whilst working together on “The Royal Scotsman Train”.

Now settled happily in Perthshire, Scotland, Suzette joined DormFresh as the Office Manager in March 2013 and is currently managing all office responsibilities under the direction of the Global Sales Manager, Crawford Smith.  When she is not in the office, you can find Suzette enjoying time with her family and three horses.

Dave Beuerman

Laboratory Manager


Dave was born in Virginia, raised in the Midwest, and went to college in Montana.  He received his B.S. in Chemistry and his M.S. in Geochemistry from University of Montana – Montana Tech.

Dave worked at Lockheed-Martin as a Materials and Processes Engineer for eight years, specializing in ion chromatography, wet chemistry and atomic spectroscopy, specifically flame atomic absorption, inductively coupled plasma, and X-ray fluorescence.

Dave also worked at Analytical Laboratories, Inc. as an Environmental Chemist for 4 years and at Micron as a Chemist for 1 year.  He started at DiChlor in June 2008 as the Laboratory Manager working in high performance liquid chromatography and gas chromatography.
